This really should be a question for the Ask Josiah About Japan thread since it doesn`t have anything to do with the strip itself. But anyway, in Japan staying home from school or work when you`re sick is discouraged so when people have a cold or something like that they wear a little mask over their mouth and nose (to hopefully keep from infecting anyone else) and go do whatever it is they`d normally be doing.

The actual pokédex entry in Ruby mentions Loudred's bellowing being able to destory a wood framed house so I just ran with that.
