*Cracks Knuckles* Pardon my nerd-dust

Post by The Adder »

Okay, so I was on GameFAQs when I stumbled upon a link to this Pebble Version and decided to marathon it (in other words, read it all in one sitting), it's pretty good, by the way.

Anyways I got to strip 108 in the archive and noticed some mistakes in the commentary that really do not need to be pointed out or fixed, but I just can't help doing so.

First, in the games, Team Rocket had nothing to do with Mewtwo.

Second, also in the games, Mewtwo is not a clone of Mew, it is the genetically altered child of Mew. I understand the mistake, most of the fandom has this wrong.

In the mansion on Cinnabar Island there are a set of books detailing a group looking for and finding Mew in the wilderness.

in one of these books there is a passage that reads, and I quote:

MEW gave birth
We named the newborn MEWTWO

That, I believe, is the reason it's called a fan comic.

So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*

I found this through Wikipedia as well, though I was looking at the infomation for Torchic. Something about being cute and overused.

I forget how I found it.
It was acutally a few years ago, I just joined the forums recently.

i'm not going to move this. it is a comment about PV content and not an introduction. so i'll leave it here. he is correct about the game data from Pokemon Red however, mewtwo, in the game, is mews child. i don't really remeber any more about the team rocket stuff making it though.

Glad you like the comic. Anyway, onto your comment. When I wrote that commentary it'd been a very long time since I'd red those books in Red so my memory of them was rather fuzzy. And, in the anime and manga Mewtwo is stated to be a genetically altered clone of Mew so that's what I went with. If/when Mewtwo's origins come up in the comic I'll probably go with that as well but I'll change the commentary to include the correct game version as well.

Commenting on something else that was mentioned... I don't really care if PX has a Wikipedia article (long as there's nothing in it badmouthing PV). Though, considering how anti-webcomic many of Wiki's senior editors are, I'm surprised it hasn't been deleted. Most web comic articles (including the PV one) got deleted within days of creation.

Perfectly understandable, as the anime is the version of the story that most people are familiar with despite the game being the source material.

Also, I'm not sure if you did it intentionally or not, but level 5 is the exact level you can catch Mew at using the glitch in Red/Blue.

I picked level 5 intentionally...but not for that particular reason.
