As you may or may not know, in bonus weeks we look at comics that probably normally wouldn't come up in the club for one reason or another. This week it's Shauni's ROM comic.

This is where I'd normally post an overview and my thoughts about it...but I really need to get as much work done as I can on my thesis before tonight so I'll do that later.

FYI: Since I screwed up and posted this so late, I might let it go for two weeks, depending on how many people have posted by Wednesday. My own comments should come later today or sometime tomorrow.

So, ROM. Let's start with the art. It's kinda rough in the beginning but it certainly improves as time passes. Currently it's not bad. Not amazing (sorry Shauni), but nothing to really complain about either. Though, I got to point out that the frequent switching between computer coloring and pencil coloring are kinda odd. A consistant look wouldn't be bad.

As for the story, it doesn't follow the original ROM RP very closely, though that's not neccessarily a bad thing and Shauni's take on the plot is looking fairly intersting. Though I really have to complain about the lack of screen time given to the supposedly main characters. You know, Josiah, Jeff, Silver, Opal, Neo, regular Shauni, the ones who are supposed to be the "heroes" of the whole thing. I mean, Ivy (an early boss character) has gotten more attention than any of them...

I have to admit, this also frustrates me as well. I've found it difficult over the last year to really do anything with the characters as I don't want to change them from how they are in the RP, so it makes it difficult to write for them in character while adding my own imput...I'm currently trying to rectify this in the latest chapter, after the current holiday comics are finished.

Last year I was having a lot of trouble with the ROM main story line as I had written myself into a problem. I went over to Moen's back story to buy myself some time and I was able to come up with a way out, unfortunately the back story took me ages to do, and when I did get back to the main cast I decided it would be a great idea to do a Christmas story...which is still going mid March...the main cast of ROM are still Josiah, Jeff, Opal, Silver and Shauni...I've got a nice big battle for them coming up which should get things back on track. I'm sorry they haven't had much screen time recently but don't worry, they will return!

I've been reading ROM, and it is an entertaining comic. It has a great original plot, with some familiar elements. I also like the humor in it (Josiah's Compromising Position But, it's a little slow paced (the Christmas special, for instance). The unsteady updates also may have contributed to this. The colored pencil was interesting, as I haven't seen that before in a webcomic. The art is done well too. There's just some occasional typos.

Overall, nice job Shauni!

ROM is awesome. That is all I can say right now.

ROM. Great comic. Though I found the site through Pebble Version, I think ROM is what finally drove me to check out the site's forums. Of course, the artwork isn't perfect, but it's better than I can do, so I can't really critisize. The slow updates are kinda annoying, but, hey, at least you update at all. Of course, there are the occasional typos, but they happen.

Uhm...I have favorite comics, but I kinda forgot to record them, and I don't have the time to go find them right now at the moment. How about...all of them are my favorites! :D

Hey Saber, did you know one of my characters appeared in ROM?
Shauni was having a contest and I submitted one of mine without knowing the contest was going on, I only found out when I joined.
Guess what Shauni! Deslaya will appear in Code Twilight,and she'll be in ROM! of course he appearance changed alot since she started training after Moen defeated her.

I really am trying to update more, but it takes all afternnon just to make one comic, and I've taken on alot of after work stuff resently

I'll be frank. Love it.

It's a well thought out idea with an interesting plot. The art is okay, but all this has been said.

And pretty much all of my favorites involve Silver being Silver in one way or another.

Never read the ROM RP nor have I participated so I have no clue about the adherence.
