Kusa vs. Bael

The Soul Society was rather quiet today, not a lot going on. This left Kusa bored to tears. He yawned, leaning back against a tree trunk. "Man... I want something fun to do! Where the heck is Bae-chan!?", he said, looking around. Finally, he spotted Bael just across the grass. Kusa quickly hopped up and ran over to him, glomping him. "Bae-chan! Wanna fight!?", he asked, knowing full well that Bael would accept. After all, Kusa had just given him a tackle hug.

Bael shoved Kusa off, an anger vein appearing on his forehead. "How many times do I have to tell you? I'm not a huggy person!" He said, grabbing his axe, and slamming it down towards Kusa

Kusa had already disappeared from the spot where the axe impacted upon the ground. "I know... But that doesn't stop me.", he said, now standing beside Bael. His naginata's blade rested beneath Bael's chin, though not touching the skin on his neck. He smiled. "It's a great way to throw you off and cause you to lose your edge."

In almost a split second, he ducked backwards, tripping Kusa to the ground, and doing a backflip, swinging his axe

Kusa managed to flatten himself against the ground and, after Bael's axe cut the air above him, he jumped to his feet and put some distance between the two of them. He smirked. "Now that's what I'm talking about."

Kusa ducked down low to the ground and did a sweeping kick, taking Bael's feet out from under him and making him fall back. He then quickly stood up, keeping an eye on the axe.

The axe fell to the ground, causing a minor quake. Bael grabbed it, and spun to his feet, slicing toward Kusa as he did so. Anticipating a jump dodge, he swung to where Kusa would be if he jumped

Unfortunately, Kusa did make a jump. He was then forced to dodge in the air, which is hard to do, but he managed it. The axe came extremely close to his body, so close that it cut a few hairs from his bangs off. Kusa landed and jumped back a yard or two. "Hey!? You trying to kill me for real!?", he said.

Bael st upright, slinging his axe over his shoulder with a smirk. "Prepare yourself Kusa. Who knows, maybe this will be good training for you." He pulled his axe off his shoulder, leapt up, and slammed it down toward Kusa.

Kusa jolted, rolling forward, underneath Bael's axe and Bael himself. He heard the axe split the ground where he had been as he got to his feet. Kusa was small for his size so he would normally have a lot of speed but, for some reason, today he was a bit slow. He felt the blade of Bael's axe slice through the topmost layer of the skin on his lower back, leaving a small stinging sensation. "Yikes!!" Kusa quickly jumped forward and then turned, watching his rival. He held his naginata against his body defensively. "No... I really think that you're trying to kill me and using the training exscuse to make it look like an accident."

"Please. If I kill you, they kill me." He said, getting into his own defensive position.

"Eh heh...", Kusa sweatdropped. "Highly doubtful. You're more useful to them than I am." With that said, he rushed at his rival, striking with his naginata, the strike coming in from the side.

Bael hopped up on top of Kusa's weapon, kicking toward his shoulder

(You're lucky his weapon is still in sealed form. Cuz, had it been his scythe, you'd be missing a leg or two. Heh.)
Kusa's shoulder took the impact from Bael's kick and he staggered back, his grip on the naginata loosening enough to throw Bael off balance as well. Bael, however, landed safely on his feet. The younger boy ended up on the ground, whimpering in pain. Though, he was very thankful that Bael had kicked him instead of using his axe. Kusa could have lost his head had that been the case. He looked up at Bael, getting back on his feet.
