"I understand, ladies of the daggers... but even fun can have a malicious side, and it is this hidden malice that triggers the guilt of your host. You know that she bears the burden and pain of her Sin."

"... and we seek to no longer feel sorry for her. We just want to play."

"In due time, dear ladies." Simeon bowed, "But there was another reqest you asked me about?"

"Yes. The rude being. What and who is he so we may toy with him."

"He and I are rivals." Simeon growled, "I am a guardian, he is a conqeror and a greedy one. We don't address each other by name for reasons long forgotten, and we have existed on different sides of the forest near this township. He exists in the dark forest surrounded by a ring of mountains, my Havenwoode rings the ring of mountains and stretches to the sea. You'll love the children I care for..."

"Children? You care for children?"

"Yes. Orphans... they are a treasure for me to guard... which brings me to why I came this morning."

"We take it that you want to speak of this to the others?"

"Yes."

"Then you may tell us more of the rude one another day, Lion-thing. We sense that what you wish to tell us is urgent, and is connected to this rude one we seek to toy with."

"My thanks, Ladies of the Daggers."

The two went back inside and 'Shauni' took her seat.

Simeon took a seat at the table and put his gauntleted hands together.

"I have been watching over the orphans of this town for years now, Warriors. The townspeople have been so kind in helping me tend to these lost children, and I treasure these children so..." He leaned forward on the table with a low voice as soon as Ku-chan left the room. "These children are what is keeping Havenwoode free from the darkness of the Dark Woods, and I guard them closely with help from the native creatures.

"... but yesterday, one very special girl was taken from my fold by that fiend that possesed master Neo..."

There was a hush silence in the room.

"This is why I am asking your help, warriors... Mahri has a gift that I thought was not possible for the denizens of this world, and in the hands of the enemy, such power can spell disaster and destruction... something we are all desperately trying to undo..."

"As if we didn't have enough to worry about already..."

*Although Josiah couldn't help but agree with Jeff, he didn't say so out loud.* "Well, we have to take that thing out sooner or later." *He said, talking about the 'Evil Neo'.* "So we might as well move it up to the top of the list and save the girl while we're at it. Everyone with me?"

*The others voiced their agreement.*

"But what's so special about that girl? What power does she have?"

Simeon glanced around, got up, and walked around, checking hiding places, searching nearby rooms, and looking carefully through windows.

"I apologize for making you wait, honored guests." Simeon spoke after making certain the coast was clear. "Matters may complicate if others hear."

"Well.. it's obviously safe now." Jeff spoke, folding his arms and leaning back in his chair.

Simeon began arranging objects on the table as he spoke, "I am afraid that I cannot risk that knowledge with a few of you, friends."

A confused silence fell in the dining room.

"I'm sorry Master Neo and Lady Shauni... I must ask you please leave the room. I fear that the dark ones may be listening through you. I mean no disrespect."

'Shauni' nodded in understanding and left the room, keeping a careful eye on Neo, as he was escorted out with Tsuekasa.

Simeon looked a little guilty, "I know, I didn't wish to send them out... but it needed to be done, as I suspect Mahri's kidnapper may not know why I deem her so special." He moved a saltshaker into what appeared to be a chess move, "Mahri has the power to make things happen."

"Wait. Back up." Josiah spoke up, "Make things happen?"

Simeon nodded as a pepper shaker seemed to move on the checkered tablecloth, countering his move, "She can start events at any moment, and manipulate the actions of anyone involved so she may create the ending she desires... I fear that even Mahri is unaware of this dangerous power..."

'Shauni' and Neo stood outside the room with Ivy, all three where under the watchful eyes of Tsuekasa.

Shauni smiled and lent against the wall, then she turned her head slighty towards Neo
"So, its nice to be singled out isn't it eh, feeling like a reject?"
it wasn't shauni that was speeking, and Neo knew it

"What are you doing, you promised you wouln't take possesion of Shauni if they let you go"

Shauni laughed "o please, its hardly possesion if the host leaves the body to your managment."

Shauni then looked at Tsuekasa and Ivy "You two sleep for a while"
Suddenly they both fell to the floor in unwilling sleep

"Tsuekasa!" Neo spoke
"Be silent fool."
Shauni then closed her eyes and a black mist came from her body
"I go now sister" a childs voice spoke
"Very well Kohaku, don't let the lion one sence you"

the black mist went threw the crack in the door and then seeped into the woodwork and moved along till it came to the wall, it was invisable to sight and to sence, one would only sence a slight draft at its movement. it watched the meeting

"what are you doing" Asked Neo
"Finding out whats going on. now be quite. There is no harm in what we do...unlike your ears, no others will use what we hear for malice....unless its us that wish to do so"

"So, in other words, you're saying that she can manipulate the game's coding without knowing it?"

"But what's so special about that? Shauni can do it too, right?" *Opal asked.* 

"But Shauni's powers are limited to things like simple terrain and monster modifications. She's never been able to make any large scale changes." *Virgo quickly recalled the things she'd seen Shauni do with her hellfire powers.*

"So how powerful is Mahri?" *Josiah leaned forward, trying to get an accurate feel for the situation.*

"How powerful can she be?" *Silver looked skeptical.* "I doubt she wanted to get kidnapped but she didn't prevent that from happening."

"Mahri can do more than merely change the scenery, friends." Simeon continued, moving another piece on the makeshift chessboard, "And she has more power than you are willing to give her credit for... She can manipulate the actions of other beings, and sometimes alter their memories; and she can do this as easily as a child can play with toys."

"But you didn't answer MY question!" Silver protested.

Simeon watched another piece move by itself.

"I'm getting to that, Master Silver." the lion-morph replied moving another piece on the checkered tablecloth, "She's a little older than 5, Silver, and advanced in her years beacuse she has been through much loss aside from the attack to the village some time ago." Another piece moved by itself. "But I did clearly say even Mahri is unaware of this power, and had she known she can manipulate objects and people, yes, indeed, she would not have allowed herself to be kiddnapped." Simeon moved another piece.

"How do you know this?"

"And couldn't you tell Mahri and teach her how to use these powers?"

Simeon sat straight up and folded his hands as another piece autonomously moved to counter Simeon's last move, "She became an orphan only about a couple weeks ago. There was not enough time for me to observe her closely and see what I could do to train her skills, but I could sense the power she had was latent within her. It was only up until a few days ago did I see the true extent of her untrained power, and I assure you, it is potent... I feel that all of you would not have made it to this continent safely were it not for Mahri playing with her toys..."

Simeon moved one last piece. "CheckMate."

Kohaku listened contenly to the story, it was all very interesting to her, theres was one of these creatures that could toy greatly with this playground, she was interested to meet it, and see what it could do

Shauni and Neo stood outside the door
"Now Neo, the question is should we share what we know with you, true, it would make the battle with the rude one more interesting...but then again, i'd lose the advantage..."

Shauni took a smuge pose
"I thinks its best if you work alone rude one, lets be rivels, this would be far more amusing for a while. by the way, I am Amber, elder of the two."

Shauni's eyes changed colour for a second, returning to there normal blue
"I'd suggest you don't try to listen Neo..."
"Shauni?"
Shauni noded "Yes, the three of us have come to an understanding, a sort of truce...they intend to take on the creature that is using you because it was rude to them...there strong...you may get hurt"

Neo noded, then Shauni's eyes turned a different could, a dull purple
"Were sharing for now, at the moment both Amber and Shauni speack to you, and Kohaku is our ears. Move away from the door, or amber will put you to sleep as well. Tell no one of what we have just told you, it is for the rude one to know only."

"Don't underestimate us." *Josiah was a bit annoyed by the last part of Simeon's explanation.*

"Now that the explanations are out of the way, I think we should be leaving." *David rose.* "The sooner we destory this evil and rescue Mahri the better."

"I agree." *Jeff also stood.* "Let's hurry up and do this. Vanderbilt seems like the larger threat to me and the sooner we take care of this the sooner we can go after her."

"Looks like we're decided then. Simeon, do you know how we can find Mahri?"

Simeon stood up slowly and looked out the window. "Mahri may not be aware of her powers, but if she wants to be found, she will make sure she will be found. Already, the clouds have changed direction, and we will find more clues as we get closer to her."

"Do you have a general idea of where we can start?"

"The Forbidden Woods ringed by mountains." Simeon said in a flat tone, "Even the vultures flee from that dark wood. No doubt her kidnpper may have taken her there..."

"Alright, Well... Let's get Shauni, Ivy, Tsuekasa, and Neo, gear up, and we move out."

The group nodded and began to go to the their rooms to pack for another trip, but Simeon stopped Josiah as the two of them began to leave the room.

"Don't think I underestimate you or your friends, Master Josiah..." Simeon spoke in a low voice, "I have been watching the lot of you since the very first day you were sucked into Orca. I am wholly aware of what you are all capable of... Even for one who seems to be at his pinnacle, even you have more potential that what you are willing to see."

Simeon began to walk out of the Inn, "Have your team meet me at my smithy... We'll start our rescue mission from there..."

Shauni's eyes glinted black as Kohaku quickly returned to her body, then they returned to bright red
Shauni looked at Neo, a wicked grin on her face
"Enjoy there wrath"
Shauni then quickly fell to the floor, asleep like Ivy and Kassy.

neo was confused for a moment, until Silver excited the room and spoke aloud
"Neo! What the heck did you do to the girls?!"

"Ivy tried to use a sleep trick to put us all to sleep and seemed to backfired somewhat. It got her and the girls and I managed to avide it somehow." Neo said trying not to reveal what Amber had said to him.

"So what's the plan?"

"So think you are so smarth Amber. I already knew the importance of the girl. Why else would I take her instead of one of the other children. I just have to figure out how to use her to my advantage. For now she's sleeping peacefully. Now let them come. I shall get my revenged on them. 3 of them in particular. You Silver, Opal and Neo for what you have done."

Taking Neo's words only half trustingly, Ivy was tied to a chair. David was left to guard her at the in while the others decided what plan of action to take next.

Shauni spent what was to become the remainder of the morning glaring at Neo
"That one...even his human heart is devious...we must find this little girl though...she may be interesting..."
She glanced up at the sky and smiled a little
"I can't wait to meet you Mahri. You'll finally get to meet the ice doll of yours"
*we are not the ice doll kohaku, do not confuse yourself when the time comes*
*yes amber*

She then glanced at the Simeon creature *I wonder if he knows what he is really...I've only sensed an aura like his once before....and that creature was a VERY dangerous thing...I wonder if this guardian father can be trusted when the time comes. If the shadow one gets this Mahri...will the father be able to fight it*

Her smile dropped a little *i hate this guilt...its only one child...I should consume her instead of this one...she has more power to play with...but I digress....*

*Josiah had little to do until the meeting time so he and Virgo walked around the village for a while.*

"Do you think this will be it? Our last great adventure?"

*Josiah turned and looked at her.* "I can't say that I've thought of it that way. But it's possible. Afterall, how many super powered bad guys can this world have? We've already fought enough for several games."

"Do you wish you'd never come here? You could have stayed in your world and had an ordinary life. I'm sure you would have done well there."

"Well, there are times when I wonder what that would have been like." *He sighed.* "But then I think about the friends I've met here and about you... I'd do everything over again just for a chance to be with you."

Shauni sat alone outside waiting for the others to gather there equipment for the rescue mission and Josiah and Virgo were walking around just away from her
She sighed impatiently, all three of the beings in her head where eager to get going

"What's taking them so long..."
"These things are slowing us down, we should go alone"
"Do you know where we need to go"
".....no"
"Then belt up"

Neo, Tsuekasa and Metalmorph arrived at the Smith as told. Tsuekasa went in while Neo and Metalmorph talked to themselfs outside.

"Have any idea on who we are going after?"

"Well, probably whatever is in controll of me. Though I have a small idea who." Neo wispered his idea into Metalmorph's ear.

"You really think so. Is that even possible?"

"Well there isn't much else I can think of. Could also be any number of the diffrent dark creatures we fought in the shrines to purify this area."

"Guess we'll soon see."
