ROM 4: New Horizons

((Lessee... A killer cloud/fog, Vanderbilt, Quatar (likely still part of Neo), and this baddie that summoned the Death Gliders... YIKES, DUDES.))

At that moment, another blur shot past the group and air-tackled the demonic harpy with a loud roar that pushed the Death Gliders back quite a distance. The Gamers in flight braced themselves against the sudden wind, while on the ground, Jeff and David braced themselves in fighting stances to keep themselves from getting blown down.

Holding the demon-bird-creature in a headlock, another winged being in a tattered, dark blue cloak struggled to face Perfect Light and shouted, "Worry about the Death Gliders, Son of Light! I'll contain the Daughter of HellFire!"

The Demon-Harpy screeched in beastial rage, squirmed out of the stranger's grip, and raked a tainted talon across her opponent's torso, drawing blood and revealing coal-black fur.

Another powerful roar burst from the stranger, this time aimed at the demon magpie... and he charged at her with his mystic sword drawn...

The Demon harpy brought both of its cursed talons and covered its face as the stranger struck at it with his sword.

The two weapons crashed into each other and the talons emited dark sparks as the stranger pushed all his mite into the swing.

The demon harpy pulled its foot up and kicked the stranger back and with the force flew back herself

She glared at the figure before her. A slight serge of recognition crossed her face and for a moment it threw her off. She remained still as she serched her memorys for this creature but found she had no memorys at all.

Her face turned to one off horror as she suddenly glanced at her body and servayed the mass of feathers

"W...What?" it spoke

Then she looked back at the stronger "What....what..."
She then screached a cry off anquish and both the cursed talons where drawn to her face as she continued to screach

She then flew back after a moments flayling and moved to slash the stranger as she had the tree.

Her eyes now glowed red, and a laughter could be heared coming from the talons as she slashed the stranger

Ivy stood up on treberling feet and struck one of the Death Gliders with her braid that had attempted to attack her

"i won't die at the hands of vermin!"
She used what was left of her strength to strike the Death Gkider again as it came around for a second attack, knocking it out.

((I think we can safely say that the killer cloud is some sort of attack/weapon/whatever being used by Vanderbilt.))

((What's ivy doing fighting? Even if one of the Death Gliders did leave the main battle and go down to where she was, David should have handled it. I can't see him, Jeff, and Ibun letting her move around enough to fight.))

"What the heck is going on?!?" *Josiah watched as the newcommer battled the mysterious black creature.*

"I wish I knew..." *Virgo muttered.* "But that new one... His aura is strange...

*Meanwhile the battle with the Death Gliders was winding down with only four of them still fighting. One broke away from the battle and charged at Josiah and Virgo, either to escape or looking for an easier target. Perfect Light could hear it coming and didn't even bother to look back.*

"Celestial Blast." *He raised a hand and fired a glowing ball of light that struck the Death Glider and exploded, KOing it. Throughout this he remained focused on the strange battle that was playing out before him, trying to decide if he should help the cloacked newcommer in his battle or simply continue to watch.*

The Stranger's left arm began glowing a blood-red color and he brought the arm up to protect himself.

"I cannot reach you, Daughter of Hellfire... The tainted ones are holding you prisoner..." he muttered as he managed to grapplehold the Harpy again. "If only there was another way..."

"SHRIEK!" The Harpy dug her talons into the Stranger's arms and flung him into the ground.

"AUGH!"

Jeff was distracted momentatily as Ivy cut down a Death Glider attacking them. As the Death Glider fell, Jeff noticed something odd. The talons on the creatures were coated with some sort of green color -a poison most likely- and he noted that this one was wearing a green amulet of some sort. It was likely the other Death Gliders were equipped similarly.

But why?

Ivy hissed and and raised a hand to strike the distracted soldier when she collapsed from exhaustion.

Ibun held out his beamsaber. "She almost pulled a fast one."

"Yeah..."

At that moment, he heard an angry screech and a surprised shout. A blue blur was hurtling toward the ground.

"DIEEE!!" and a black blur dove down after the blue blur.

Jeff recognized the voice, and in the next heart beat shouted, "SHAUNI!!"

This distracted the Harpy... allowing the blue blur to pull out of it's freefall...

((Okay... I've run out of ideas...))

((Qutar was the name that Neo and Zanther agreed upon when they took on the Hearts Form (I think that's what it was called) so that name was only short lived. Qutar in essnece was't a real char.))

Soon the battle was almost over. One Death Glider remained. It quickly flew into the middle of the gamers who were in the air. Then a fimilar sight took place. Strange lines formed on it's body, just like it had when they battled the monster near the ship. It spoke in a loud voice for all to hear.

"Well done again. You have proved yourself that you can take on many strong foes. Though we were stronger in numbers compaired to the monster you fought ealyer, there are still even stronger ones my master has prepared for you. Til then." The Death Glider fell KO'd to the ground.

The blue cloaked stranger flew high into the arm, but the harpy, as if stunned, continued and hit the ground,
There was an almighty crash and then everything was silent.

The stranger seemed to float down a little but then the crater the impact had created exploded and dust rose high into the air.

The harpy demon flew up high threw the dust and slashed at the stranger as he looked around frantically for her.

Jeff shouted her name again in desperation, but his voice was lost in the noises the Harpy was making as it screeched in anger at the blue figure.

The Stranger parried away a number of the swipes before finding an opening. He roared loudly, forcing the Harpy to fall back some distance.

"Roiro Furi..." the Stanger muttered, looking a little torn up. He then started glowing this dark blue aura. "Come, Daughter of Hellfire. For the sake your well being... Surface. Break away from the tainted ones."

The Harpy attacked, but the stranger vanished in a blur. He reappeared behind her and preformed a powerful backhand maneuver before vanishing again.

Perhaps he was hoping to confuse the creature enough to wear her down...

"Ok, that's it!" *Josiah, still in his merged form as Perfect Light, was tired of being a bystander.* "I'm not completely sure who either of those two are so I'm not just going to stand here and let them kill each other! Light's Barrier!" *Shimmering translucent walls surrounded both the harpy and the cloaked figure, seperating and trapping them. The barrier wouldn't last forever, especially considering how strong both of the creatures were, but hopefully it would be long enough to figure things out.*

"Wow," *David, was standing nearby with Jeff, Ibun, and the unconscious Ivy,* "why don't you use that move more often?"

"Hmm?" *Josiah looked over as the rest of the gamers returned to the ground and joined the group.* "Well, ever since Moen broke through it and nailed me I haven't been too fond of it. Now," *he turned towards the two creatures, the harpy was screeching angrily and trying to break the barrier, the other merely stood there calmly, waiting,* "who are you and what the heck is going on here?"

((Josiah used Light's Barrier at the beginning of ROM 2 when he fought Moen single handed.))

The stranger dispelled his dark blue aura and removed his hood, revealing a lion-like being underneath with dark-blue orbs, with points of green light where the irises should be, for eyes.

"Son of Light, I am Father Simeon, Holy Guardian of HavenWoode." the Lion-Morph bowed, then motioned to the chaos of battle and the harpy, "I apologize for this reception, Holy Warrior. This was not how I intended to greet you and your company to Dark Edge."

"We're at D-Edge already?" Neo whispered. He looked around and sure enough, he could barely see the village in the distance...

"No offense taken." Perfect Light spoke, still a bit wary about this guardian, "Now answer the other half of the question..."

Simeon nodded and looked forlornly at the shrieking harpy clawing away at the walls of the other light sphere.

"That, Master Josiah, is your friend Shauni... the Daughter of Hellfire."

"Shauni?!" the group chorused in surprise.

"What did you do to her, 'Holy Guardian?'" Jeff snarled in angry sarcasm.

"I did nothing, Master Jeffrey." was Simeon's answer as he sheathed his sword. He lowered his head in regret and dismay, "She has been taken hostage by her desires... I came in the hopes of reversing the effects of her quest. It seems I have come with false hopes..."

He looked up, "The very most I can do now is act as a guide to the D-Edge Township. The village knows me... and I am very sure they remember Master Neo and Lady Tsuekasa. No doubt you will find some rest there once we calm Lady Shauni and free her from this... primality... Unless she manages to surface on her own, that is..."

The Harpy was thrashing about within the confines of the spell, hitting invisible walls as she tried desperately to escape

"Let us go!" she screamed finally in a voice that could fill boiling water
"Let us go at once!" she repeated
"Shauni, listen to me, you have to brake free from this spell!" Josiah pleaded with the Harpy

The harpy ignored Josiah and flew again into the invisible wall, the impact caused her to reeled back and screech in frustration.

"Let us go..."

The Guardian Father looked at Shauni with a suspicious eye " You said 'us', daughter of hellfire..."
She flew as close as the confines of his cage would let him
"Who do I address?"
The Harpy looked up at Simeon, its glowing red eyes where weary and frustrated
"You address us. That is who you address....now LET US GO!"
She flew head first towards the guardian, making him fly back in surprise
"Daughter of Hellfire, fight off those that have infested you body!"

Jeff turned to Ivy and gabbed her by her collar and pulled her up to face him
"how do we undo what you did! Tell me!"
Ivy starred from her blackout just to mutter one sentence before she passed out again
"I planted seeds of darkness that took root in the evil that already existed within her...I wanted to battle the demon that destroyed my home...but it was to powerful for me..."With that, Ivy had no more to say for the moment

The Harpy tired a few more futile attempts to brake threw the barrier but eventually excepted it wasn't going anywhere

"You address Amber and Kohaku....apart from that, we have nothing more to say"

"Amber and Kohaku...? The mischief gods?"

"I sure hopewe can calm her down. In this form she's imatating. Though for some odd reason I find it thrilling to see her this way. I keeping getting fellings of evil and can't seem to figure out why. But yes, they will remember me :) Heck, I was there 3 weeks ago. Anyway, once we can figure out what to do with Shauni we could make it to D-Edge by nightfall. You can all stay at my place, assumming it's still standing."

Meanwhile...

"Perfect, they are close. Time to put the final step of my plan into action."

The Harpy turned to Neo, a look of disgust on her face
"You are the worst of these vermin...you lack the focus to assimilate your own body"
It wasn't as if she was talk to Neo, Josiah noted, but she was talking to something in side of him.
The Harpy began to relax and she rose her arms across her chest and turned her head away from the group
"You can't just keep us in here. Sooner or later you'll have to let us go. You guys are just appetisers to us."
She then looked at The Guardian Father
"And you don't even know what you are. Your vermin, just like that human creature is" she said as she pointed to neo.

Neo's eyes turned blank and he begain to spoke.

"Oh I have my own body. That I know. I just happen to exist within this one as well, even if it is a small part of me. But still, I do strive for better. For I am the last surviving free member of my race. I will become great and free those who have been taken captive and we will rule this world. And maybe the next as well."

The harpy looked indifferently at Neo, then began to laugh maniacally
"HAHAHA! You?! Rule the world! Your a pathetic creature who glorifies his meagre power. Your petty, grasping ambitions amuse use. We have no such desire for trivial goals. What is the point of ruling the world? We exist to cause. We strive to make things happen and live for the consequence. We watch everything and see everything. You are just another effect of something that was caused. You can not make anything happen"
She turned away again
"We will watch you with great interest, powerless pawn of fate"

This did not set well with whatever had it's grip on Neo.

"How dare you mock me. I am no pawn now. I broke free of that fate long ago. I also happen to have more power then the meer gamers here have. Even if some of them can murge and make other forms. Only you actually have more power then me. But I do keep growing in my own power. Given time I could even compeate with you. But I also have a great will to survive. Even if you defeat me, I can always return. I have learned much over the corse of my life. Even things from my former master, if you can call him that. In the end, it was me who defeated him. Now he's no more. I plan on taking controll of this world and then destroy it peice by peice."
