Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Greetings all!
Congradulationgs Saber! *hugs* I remember that feeling from when I got into my Uni.
Anyway, sorry I haven't been around as much as I would have liked. I have two assingments and two exams this week. And instead of working on them I've spent the majority of the part two and a half days in bed. Came down with a really bad stomach virus. But I don't think you guys really want the details.
So since Ive been feeling better this afternoon I've spent most of it Working on the Assignment thats due first. Uh how my head hurts.

Man, it's almost over. Poor KotF didn't even get to go out with a bang. I... I almost feel sorry for it. We should just put it out of its misery...
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hey.
Penn and Cornell acceptance stuff just came in the mail :) So unreal...
Anywho, my State competition for Destination Imagination was yesterday... we lost. I was really disappointed at first, but it only took an hour or so before I was okay with it. I mean, we've been to Globals twice, and it's been fantastic. Some kids never get to have that experience. It's just a bit rough because, since we're seniors, there's no "Oh, maybe next year!"
On a better note, though, I applied for the MADI scholarship and won (as did the two other seniors on my team :D ). So, at States, they presented us all with our own copy of Oh, The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss (and our scholarship check, of course). I was last in line, and the first five books were handed out normally (there are 7 scholarship recepients out of 42 applicants), but the 6th was handed out with a little speech about how much community service the kid in line before me did, and how he was getting a special extra award. So then they turned to me and I joked "Oh, and here's your book Saber, kthxbai" but then I was called forward and they gave a special speech about how my scholarship essay blew all of the readers away and how it embodied the Spirit of DI and I was presented with the Spirit of DIscovery award and it was actually one of the bestest moments ever. Ah, I'm gonna miss DI...

Hi! Congrats, Saber!
Well, KotF is over. It was a bit slow this year, but it was still fun. Now I just need to count the last of the posts and add up scores...but that can wait until after I get my shopping done and see The Hunger Games.

Congratulations Saber!
So, guess what? I'm back! And I'm sticking around this time! I ended up quitting college so I could have free time again.
All in all, it's been a great April Fool's Day.

Moi,
Congratulations Saber! Sounds quite radical!
Well, I think my April Fools day came a bit early. Yesterday I was rather sick (very high fever...again) and I was basically stuck in bed all day (an 'April Fools" from the universe I suppose). I guess my mom took pity on me and let me use her laptop, so at least I could watch some videos and such while I was slightly delusional.
So, this week, I'll only have four days of school, the reason being that my spring break is next week! (People have spring break in March? What are you, crazy? Here, it was snowing three days ago!) An entire week of relaxing, sitting in front of the computer and...umm...relaxing!
Yeah, I'm guessing that my spring break came a bit late for KotF, didn't it? Plus a mixture of my ears trying to kill me and many such projects being due, I didn't really get the full KotF experience this year...Well, maybe next year will be better for me.
Stay radical people! Peace off!

Hi! You realize that calling something "the best 4Kids dub" isn't very high praise. Though I suppose they didn't do too badly with Kirby and Pokémon.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
I actually rate 4kids's Pokemon dub pretty highly. Acting wasn't bad, names were changed from the Japanese version only because that's how it was in the games, and there really wasn't much for them to censor to begin with. I mean, calling a riceball a doughnut is pretty dumb (and I remember even identifying it as a riceball when I was eight), and they gave that poor guy in the Raikou special an involuntary sex change, but outside of that there really isn't much to complain about. The same can be said of the Kirby dub... the difference there is that some of the voices were pretty annoying. Also, Meta Knight. My God. And by all accounts they did a better job with Shaman King than they usually do. They just gave the Chinese people British accents which was a little weird. But you know, they actually got parent complaints for not censoring one scene in Shaman King.
So then they censored the living daylights out of Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece rendering them completely nonsensical and pretty unwatchable. Then there's Tokyo Mew Mew... no, I'm sorry, Mew Mew Power. Let's... not talk about that one.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hey, you're right. 4Kids doesn't have the best track record, but Kirby was a great dub. The only change to Kirby's voice was to record a few English lines with the same actor, keeping everything else the same about him (poyo!). Eric Stuart (Kaiba for you YGO peeps) as Meta Knight is, I suppose, an understandable stretch; but come on. THE SERIES TAKES PLACE IN A TOWN WHERE THE MAYOR IS DOCTOR EGGMAN. Also Dedede is George W. Bush.
And here's a fun fact: compared to other animes, Kirby has more episode per episode.

Also, the Pokémon dub was alright. No giant raging complaints, it was alright. The series boasts very smooth animation that combines 3DCG with traditional 2D drawings. Because of this, the animators were able to use a much higher framerate than most TV anime, anywhere from 1.5-3X more on average.[citation needed] (About 10,000 frames are used in each episode, compared to the 4000-5000 used by most TV anime.)
Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! I did like the Pokémon dub, occasional dumb change aside. Kirby as well, though I think the series itself could have been a little better. But that doesn't make up for the horrible job they did with those series Silver mentioned, and he completely forgot to mention Card Captor Sakura, er, Card Captors, which had to be their worst dub ever.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Cardcaptors wasn't 4kids. It was these guys. And as you'll notice from their roster, they're so used to working on "boy" cartoons that when they came into possession of one with a girl as the lead character they just had no idea what to do with it. So they chopped it into bits and tried selling it to little boys by changing the main character of the show. And while I don't think the censorship in this one was all that bad when put next to 4kids's dubs, the sheer volume of material they cut from it is pretty ridiculous.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! Oops, you're right. I keep thinking Cardcaptors was a 4Kids dub since it was on the same station as Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh, while most Nelvana shows were on Fox. You're right that Sakura didn't need much censoring, but they changed the episode order, cut out ridiculous ammounts of material to try and change the overall style and tone of the show and characters, and went out of their way to cut out anything that might possibly be recognized as Japanese.
In other news, my Wii has decided to start spitting out every game I put in so I need to send it off for repairs. Being a launch model, it's way out of warrenty so I've got to pay for that. And, of course, it has to happen right when Xenoblade is about to be released.
