Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hi! The thing is, if you shock a component badly enough to make it stop working (even after shutting it down and turning it back on), it's usually beyond repair and has to be replaced. If it's something like a RAM chip graphics card, you can easily swap in a new one. The motherboard, however, is what ties all the different parts of the computer together. Different motherboards use different type of RAM, processors, etc... So unless you can get the exact same model, replacing a motherboard usually requires replacing the processor and a few other components as well. And at that point, the amount of time and money you have to spend usually isn't worth it when you can just buy a new (and probably better) computer and maybe upgrade it with a few of the better components from the old one. Now I can't say for sure if the motherboard is the problem with Doodle's computer without actually seeing it, but if it still turns on that means the power supply is ok. If it emits a bunch of loud beeps when turned on and then doesn't do anything, the problem could be with the RAM or video card. If it starts to boot into Windows and then stops, it could be the hard drive. If it just doesn't do anything when switched on, it's probably the motherboard and/or processor.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Ugh... I only bought this computer five bloody months ago. If it turns out I have to buy a whole new one then I'm gonna bloody stab something.
Alright, so when I attempt to start my computer I can hear the fans running, but there's no signal on the monitor, and none of the lights on the tower come on. My stepbrother builds computers, so the next time I see him I will consult with him what to do next. Or eventually I'll take it into the shop to see if they can figure out what's wrong with it.
Anyways, I'm stuck using a guest account my sister's computer, and she is currently taking every opportunity possible to change my desktop background to something obnoxious or disgusting.
I'll try to keep you guys updated on my situation as it progresses.
Also, Detroit and Vancouver both made it through the first round of the NHL playoffs. w00t.

Moi,
I don't think I could be happier right now. I was looking around in my old game room (now called the den, converted into the man-lair by my dad), since some of my old gamecube games were still sitting around in there, and I found a few things. A big box of popsicle sticks, which I am making into bombs, a tiny red toy car (really, it's tiny. it's not even 3 cm), and the last discovery is my absolute favorite. I found my old VHS tapes that have the original Star Wars trilogy on them! Yes, you heard me right. VHS tapes. I'm hoping they still work. If so, then I'll be watching them all tonight and/or tomorrow.
So, yeah. In other news: Popsicle stick bombs are difficult to make if your hands are sore from sleeping on them.

Hi! Sorry to say it, Doodle, but that really sounds like the motherboard. On the bright side, since it's a pretty new computer, it probably wouldn't be hard to get the same model motherboard to replace it. Just pray that nothing else (especially the processor) got fried along with it. Oh, and for future reference, it's perfectly normal for some computers to contain loose cords inside that don't need to be connected to anything. And, as I'm sure you already realized, messing with anything inside a computer while it's on is a really bad idea. Ideally the computer should be turned off and unplugged and you should touch something metalic (like the outer casing) to ground yourself and release any static electricity before touching any of the interior boards or components

Spring break is over and I'm back to school tomorrow... *sigh* I'm hoping to get me and my band together for a gig in mid-May. But first, gotta study for those AP exams...
I had a great spring break, though! :)

Hi! I'm running out of space on my MP3 player. Which wouldn't be a problem except that, for some reason, Windows Media Player has taken it upon itself to free space by removing a whole bunch of music whenever I sync it. Thing is, while my current music collection can fit on my MP3 player, Media Player insists on freeing up around 2GB. Which means that's 2GB of wasted space. Even worse, it seems to pick which songs to remove entirely at random. If it focused on stuff that had low ratings or that I rarely listened to, that would be one thing, but it doesnt. And I don't get a choice in the matter, it just removes the stuff without asking me for permission. It then refuses to put those tracks back on the player... You'd think there'd be a setting somewhere to disable that but I can't find one.

Hey.
He died! That bad guy! Yeah, him!
And now back to studying for APUSH... and grinning wickedly at the fact that 10 years from now, this'll be on the APUSH test... haha. I don't have to study it. Haha.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
I'd be happier about this whole "Osama is dead" thing if they weren't handling it in such a suspicious way... First off all. It was announced eight years to the day after Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speech. That's some crazy coincidence, if they actually happened to catch him on such a day.
Second! Why hasn't anyone seen the body? When they caught Saddam, we saw pictures of him in captivity, and we saw the hanging on youtube. But for Osama, who was even more hated (at least by the younger generation)? Nothing. They give us some story about a burial at sea, and they're done with it. Seems a bit... fishy (pun intended).
And third! The U.S. Military would never, ever, under any circumstances, execute someone without a trial. Seriously. Even when they should, they don't. They insist it's not a war anymore, they don't treat it like one... This all coming from my current US History teacher, who has been in Afghanistan recently - it's pathetic. If a soldier is attacked, he gets arrested if he defends himself without reading the murderous terrorist his Miranda rights and giving him a trial. And so I say, there is no way in bloody hell they would kill some guy they thought was Osama (and there were a bunch of look-a-likes running around for a while, as I recall?) without first announcing his capture and giving him a proper trial.
So, what do I draw from this? There are three possibilities:
1. He's been dead for months, if not years. Whether he was killed by the US military or he died of natural causes, who knows; they've been saving it for this specific day just to make it seem all the more ironic.
2. They believe he's dead. They have no body and no evidence, but they're so confident that he's dead (or so well hidden that even he can't find himself) that they're announcing it to boost Obama's popularity. It's currently the lowest it's ever been, by the way - or it was two days ago.
3. This is some kind of ploy to draw the rest of those terrorist guys out. It's bait, either to lure them to strike so we can find them or to just make them sweat.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
My history teacher had the news on when I walked in, and when I asked what we were watchin' and he said "Osama bin Laden is dead" I honestly thought he was joking.
I would say something more on the Osama situation, but my head hurts. But, concerning Silver's quote:
lol.
Okay head's feeling a little better. I never thought about your first theory, Silver. But now that I consider it, it's a pretty interesting thought. Makes me wonder.
Saber, I'm with ya there on the AP tests. That's why my head hurts. It got to the point that I was thrashing about the room almost yelling to myself information about the various WWII meetings of the Big Three, then freaking out when I forgot what the Payne-Aldritch Tariff was even though it had nothing to do with that time period.
I don't like this studying. Hope you're doin okay with it.

Hey!
I have to give props to Silver for all that logic. Though although I don't really care Bin Laden is dead or not, all I'm thankful for is that the leader of terror is dead, and I just hope things won't get any worst from here on out. I'm awaiting for Bush's response on what happened recently.
Good luck to you, Saber and Sira, on those AP tests. I'm trapped in one, too, myself... >_>
Peace out!

Moi,
I found the fact that everyone was celebrating the death of a human, be it, he was a terrorist and probably deserved it, just plain freaky.
Anyway, I've been writing a Star Wars Fan-Fiction for the past two days. My slight ADD is making this a bit difficult, but, so far, it seems pretty good.
I think I've learned that you can get so into your story, that, durning the touching moments, even if you already know how it's going to turn out, you, yourself, can even get a bit lip-quivery.
Also, I've learned that I make the ages of the characters, depending on if they're good, bad, or one of the main characters, quite...unique?
Dark-Force Master (bad guy), age: mid-60's
Light-Force Master (good guy), age: 35
Padawan (main char.), age: 8
Yeah...
In other news: Tired, doing Social Studies homework, and craving Ramen...

Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hey
Edit: Today, I heard from my other teacher that one shot was to the head, and one was to the chest... guess there was no explosives, so I dunno. I was lead to believe they were told to aim for the head in case of explosives.
To quote my band director, "I will have peace at mind at the death of this terrorist that was fading into obscurity, however, I will save my airhorn and foam finger for the day the troops come home."
The whole thing doesn't excite me too much, but, then again, I had no relation to anyone who persihed on 9/11. I want to take what the government says at face value, so I've decided to be positive about it. The burial at sea is Islamic tradition. I don't believe photos should be released because... I think it's just stupid. Despite one's deeds during a lifetime, life is sacred, and I think once someone's dead, you should respect that instead of posting pics of their dead bodies on the internet. I believe Obama was just like "Oh here, have the stupid birth certificate, I'm kind of dealing with real problems that have to do with the SAFTEY OF THE COUNTRY." And freaking Sarah Palin being like "these are the things that we SHOULD talk about" (in relation to the birth certificate thing) when, oh, maybe we should take into consideration TERRORISM which KILLS PEOPLE. But that's just my opinion.
I may be wrong about this, but I was under the belief that the guys sent in to get Osama were being shot at... yeah. Osama wasn't like "Oh, you got me! Shucks!" He very likely had explosives strapped to him (a common terrorist practice to avoid capture, as well as taking people out if it gets shot), explaining the two shots to the head.Silver wrote:And third! This bugged me immensely, too. It's like... a giant frat party out there. What's especially freaky is how, 10 years ago, people in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. were dancing in the streets with joy the day the twin towers were hit. Sound familiar? Can't we least TRY to pretend we're better than that?PoisonWing14 wrote:I found the fact that everyone was celebrating the death of a human, be it, he was a terrorist and probably deserved it, just plain freaky.

Oddly my first-generation parents were more excited over this news than I was. I'm only amused that I first heard this news in a MMORPG of all places (Mabinogi, for the record; I was minding my own business and picking herbs when someone randomly used a server-wide bugle horn to announce that Bin Laden was dead. Cue mass guild member freakout.).

hey silver, sent you an important PM about ROM you. Would you mind taking a look at it? I need to know ASAP
Cha!
I was very surprised by the news yesterday. I ended up watching the TV for 3 hours in a kind of numb shock. I think people genuinely believed they'd never get him.
I don't think the US government is lying about his death. Why make Pakistan look really bad unless he really was where they said he is? If it turns out this was a lie it would be a diplomatic nightmare, and I don't think anyone would tell such a stupid lie with so much risk attached. If he was still alive we would have also heard from him by now. Do you think he would just sit by and let the US get a victory like that?
Also, the news here said they confirmed it was him from a DNA test that they compared to his biological sister.
I really don't want to get into conspiracy theories...I actually want to believe he is gone, just so we can start to recover from the horrible things he has done.
As for people dancing in the streets, I can understand why they did it...it's not very tasteful but he was a very wicked man.

Hi! I'm not really one to get into conspiracy theories so I'm not going to question whether or not he's dead. Though I think giving Osama a proper burial was more than he deserved. And according to the news report I saw, he refused to go quietly and there was a gun fight. Though if you really want a conspiracy, my parents joked that, although Obama knew about Osama's death in the morning, he waited to announce it until late in evening, just in time to cut off Trump's Celebrity Apprentice. As for the celebration... It might be a bit much but it's much better to celebrate the death of a killer than the death of a whole bunch of innocent people (like many Arab countries did after 9/11).
In other news, barring a sudden job offer, I'm moving back to Arizona tomorrow. Shouldn't be too big of a deal, but I may not be online much for the next couple of days.
