Once upon a long time ago (back on October 15th of '09!)...
Josiah wrote:On a completely different note, I had this dream last night where I found this really cool slightly rundown castle for sale. I ended up buying it (even in the dream, I wasn't sure where I got the money) and was fixing it up and starting my own game development studio inside. Wish I was one of those people who believed that dreams predict the future, cause that would be about the most awesome thing I can imagine.
Just remembered this post and I'm still kinda dumbfounded in my own little way because I was kinda having a similar (day) dream one day that I helped a friend buy a castle and we had a game development studio inside it. I've been thinking, since one day I'm going to try to get a very well paying job (d'uh) working anywhere in the field of computers and if (when) I do get the money, and you find the place, Josiah, I'd be willing to help you invest in that...

Hello. My last post here before I take a long hiatus. I need a break from here... Not that I hate here. It's one of my favorite retreats. But, you know, the time comes when you need to take a short break...

Wahh....I missed Anime club to tend to my sore legs and stuffy nose. Oh well...I'm having a fun time trying to convince my friends to watch a video of one of Rammstein's live performances. I would describe it as trying to get a donkey to sit up and meow for a cupcake....or something...

Konnichiwa.

Recently, I decided to randomly reread my favorite story arcs of the Fairy Tail manga. That prompted me to start watching the anime, 'cause I really wanted to hear some of the character's voices. I'm currently in the Phantom Lord arc. It's making me wonder...
Is it weird that my favorite character in the entire series was a total jerk in this story arc?
I mean, yeah, he's an antagonist at this point and later does a Heel Face Turn to the good side, but still... he was arrogant, sadistic, violent, and I think he's awesome anyway. ._.'

Moi,

Don't worry Mandi, It always seems that, for me, I always end up with the most annoying/violent/evil guy as the one who I like the most. I just kinda got used to it. My friends say that I'm "The one who always falls for bad boys".

I though you were going on hiatus, Pikachu? oO

Konnichiwa. Glad to know I'm not completely alone in that regard. xP
In terms of favorite characters, I've noticed that I tend to like characters with The Lancer character type. I also tend to like really cool villains that sometimes go through Heel Face Turns (optional), or characters that just have irresistibly adorable personalities (in my opinion, that is). I often also feel sorry for my favorite characters due to their backstories, although the exact level of trauma they get from those backstories varies. And a large proportion of them occasionally wear Slasher Smiles. ._.
Excuse the use of TV Tropes terms, and I'm not even sure if I'm calling them the right names, but they're just so useful. 8D'

Heso! Of course girls would like them. They're always violent, arrogant maniacs, but they're also very pretty. They have to be pretty, or else no one would like them when they turned to the side of good. Or even if they don't. Freaking Ulquiorra is the most popular Bleach character... ever. If he looked like this guy, do you think he would be so popular? Hell no. It's all about the fanservice.

Me? If you couldn't tell by Usopp, Rock Lee, Ishida, and Krillin being my favorites from the main shounen series, I go for the underdogs, weaklings, and joke characters. Those pretty boys that are good at everything are just annoying. Give me an honest, hard-working Butt Monkey any day.
"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! Got back from the conference a lot later than I thought I would today. On the plus side, I did a bit better in the networking department (got to hang out with with some long time game writers). Not so sure it will help me get a job (writers aren't usually in charge of hiring), but it was cool. RP, PP, and Misadventure posts will have will wait another day or two though. Posting my comic in the club will have to wait a little longer too.

As for anime characters, I tend to go for heroes in general (at least as long as they aren't total jerks), very competent but under appreciated side kicks (Krillian, Joinuchi, etc), and whatever girls I think are cute (so long as they're not villains).

EDIT: Since when did I have so many more posts than Silver?

The former (or perpetual) villains aren't always pretty, Silver. I definitely wouldn't call Rave's Shuda pretty, or Fairy Tail's Gajeel. And for the record, I prefer Grimmjow over Ulquiorra. 8D' (Ulquiorra isn't even on my list of Bleach characters I like. In fact, I think he's on the neutral list somewhere...) I tend to judge more by personality than by appearance or affiliation; if they look good, then yay, a bonus. If they don't...well, I still like 'em (Kenpachi and Usopp being the ones I can think up right now). Then again, of course, whether a character is good looking or not varies between individuals, so eh. o3o

Oddly enough, sometimes voice actors (more specifically, seiyuu) have a pretty big role in determining if a character winds up my favorite or not...

Congratulations, Neo Zanther. You are now the new Champion! Allow me to enter you and your Pokemon into the hall of fame...
Wait, I dunno how that'd work on a forum...
Oh well, grats anyway. :3

Ohayou. So far, the new One Piece chapter was awesome, new Naruto was meh, and new Bleach was simultaneously "AHAHA I LOVE THIS" and "DUDE WHAT THE HECK?!" Additionally, I noticed yesterday that before Naruto and Bleach updated, the chapter numbers for the above three series were 599, 511, and 422. Thought that was amusing. (Now they're 599, 512, and 423, though.)

Hey.

So, The Drowsy Chaperone has to be one of the best musicals ever. It's nice to actually have a funny musical be in my top musicals... favorite musicals are either tragic (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon), or just kind of with touches of humor here and there but with a good deal of sadness (Rent, Wicked). The Drowsy Chaperone is just an absolute comedy, though. And it's great to listen to.

Act two of "The Drowsy Chaperone" begins with this: a hunting lament of a very depressed bride. Now, when you are listening to this, um, try to ignore the lyrics. I know it will be difficult but block them out, they're not the best. But the tune is beautiful and it truly communicates the brides state of mind. Just ignore the lyrics.

I put a monkey on a pedestal
And tried to make that monkey stay
And he did for a time
But he needed to climb
And with other monkeys play
Far away

It's a freaking hilarious musical... and wonderful in so many ways. Show Off, The Bride's Lament and I Am Aldolpho are all awesome and it's great and I REALLY NEED TO DO HOMEWORK

And progress reports come out soon and I've got a B in AP US NOT COOL >.<

97% on the chem test everyone failed, though~ I got a high five from my teacher :D

Moi Moi.

Nothing much to report today. I have found an utterly depressing but amazing Rammstein song. It's an old one to. It's called "Haifisch", which is german for "Shark". It basically says that sharks can cry, but no one can see them cry since they live in the water. Very sad, but a good song none-the-less.

'Lo, peeps! Up here in Canuckland it's Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm going to be spending the next four days visiting various family in Southwestern Ontario and hopefully stuffing my face with Turkey. I am also happy because the NHL regular season started today, and Ottawa's first game is tomorrow night against Buffalo. I've been doing much better in school and overall I'm feeling a lot better than I have in a long time. Doei!
