Re: Return of the Revenge of the Son of Saying Hi to Josiah!
Hihi
Kaida's alive! And finally made a post in Pokemon United.
Second day at tafe and so far I've butchers a chicken, a duck, a quail and a rabbit... they were already dead when I got to them though. But yeah, lots of stuff happening in my life, well in my head at least.
I'm currently considering finishing my apprenticeship and going to uni so I can be a Hospitality Teacher at some high school. What do you guys think?

Heso!
But yeah, I'm back in New Jersey now. I spent about two hours yesterday rearranging the posters in my room so I had room for the flag. I ended up moving Napoleon Dynamite to the ceiling in my closet... which really isn't a bad spot, seeing as I sometimes sleep in my closet. I have him covering up the random massive hole, so it's quite an improvement over looking up at a random massive hole while I'm going to sleep.
And then I spent about two hours talking to Colly. I've been with her nonstop for nearly a week, you know. At what point did I become this pathetically attached? That I'd miss her already and still want to talk? Geh... So out of character for me...
Jango is a reference to Micheal Jackson. Appearance, Moonwalk, love of music and dancing, frequently insisting that he's "normal"... yeah, the similarities are pretty obvious. Oda has professed to being a big fan of MJ, and the Strawhat Crew later travels to a place called "Thriller Bark". So...Siranae wrote:... Does anyone else here think Jango was a lot like Michael Jackson? Not because it's topical, just something I noticed when I started reading the series.

"Irregardless" and "Over exaggerated" are NEVER CORRECT EVER because they are redundant
Regardless means "without regard", and adding "ir" on the front actually makes it a double negative; exaggerate means "to overstate" so you're literally saying "over overstate."
Example: I can not exaggerate the importance of this fact enough, regardless of how often people ignore it.

Hi! Being a teacher isn't bad. Much better hours than being a chef anyway (I've heard some horror stories).Kaida wrote:Hihi

I'm really tempted to get my teaching degree (since it's just another year on top of your Bachelor's, so it's not too too much more work), but apparently it's difficult getting a job as a teacher in Canada for some reason

I'm excited, a good chance I might go back to Japan NEXT YEAR!!! :O
Only to remind everybody, I don't have much interest in anime and manga. I look at Japan more as a cultural society, having many kind people, diverse minorities, and good food. :) Only saying this to give some of you anime/manga lovers that there is much more to Japan than just gaming and anime.

I'm an Anime/Manga lover, but I also know a lot about the Japanese culture and love it, as I'm sure most of the other posters on the forum agree, particularly after Josiah's recent trip there.
I also went the a couple years ago and want to go again. Sure I didn't get to explore Tokyo, other parts of the country and go do other things I was interested in (Main reason for wanting to go there again). But nothing beats experiencing Japan then living with a Japanese Family. ^_^
In short, I'm pretty sure you don't need to remind people on this forum that there's more to Japan then Anime and Gaming. ^_^

I've heard some too. Apparently one Chef had a heart attack from the stress. He's now a language teacher. I've thought of being a teacher before but that along with some other things was kindda what got me to make up my mind.Josiah wrote:Hi! Being a teacher isn't bad. Hi! As other people have mentioned, after the massive Japan Travelogue I wrote awhile back while working there as an English teacher (which you can find on Pebble Version), I think most of the forum members know that there's a lot more to Japan than anime, manga, and video games. As for the other things you said about Japan... People are polite and helpful, though with some it's not so much that they're actually nice but following standard cultural behavior practices (though there's plenty who are just nice people as well). The food is good, assuming you like Japanese food (the selection of foreign food is rather limited and, of ones that are fairly easy to find, most have been heavily "Japan-ized" (notable exceptions being Korean and Indian)). But if you'vr going to Japan expecting to see a bunch of diverse minorities, you're going to be disapointed. While there's some slight differences in dialect, food preferences, and the like between different parts of the country, there's nowhere near the cultural diversity you'll find in the US, Canada, or parts of Europe. Most of the country's population is Japanese (the only significant minority popular being Koreans and, unless you're spent alot of time around Asian countries, it can be very hard to tell them apart since most look and act pretty similar to the native Japanese), most follow the same religion (a mix of Shinto and Buddism) and aren't all that observant (it's mostly a holiday thing), and most even look pretty similar (black hair (unless they dye it, in which case it's usually a reddish brown), dark eyes, average build). So yeah, Japan isn't a place to cultural or racial diversity.White_Samurai wrote:I look at Japan more as a cultural society, having many kind people, diverse minorities, and good food. :) Only saying this to give some of you anime/manga lovers that there is much more to Japan than just gaming and anime.
And now, having typed that whole thing up, I completely forgot what I was going to say. Oh well, couldn't have been all that interesting if I forgot it so easily.

Must've been one mistake I've made, Josiah. I've been to Japan once already with family, there's a chance I might go back next year. But I'm glad you share the same ideas I do.Josiah wrote:Hi! Hi
I don't think I've told you all yet, but my marching music for this year is Carmina Burana. If you don't know what that is, just think of O Fortuna. Anyway, I'm at band camp for the rest of this week and next week. I'm used to band camp right now, but it still sucks. My back hurts and I've got what looks like a small sunburn on my hand. I also have to stay for eight hours tomorrow. I guess I should count my blessings; it's only going to be in the high 80s Friday.

I remember being young and silly, thinking Japan is AMAZING AND FILLED WITH ANIME ALL OVER, AND YOU CAN LEARN JAPANESE FROM FANSUBBED ANIME, YAY!
Maybe someday I'll go, but at least I understand it's way more than that now..
Today I had some Dairy Queen. Yum.

Hey
So for my birthday tomorrow, my mom is getting [PROTOTYPE] for me, which I intend to play all day. And hopefully I'll get 40 more dollars so I can upgrade my ODST pre-order to the special edition, which comes with a controller.

It was lonely... you promised you'd write to me, but you never did... the months passed by, and I still thought of you every day, but you never called. I never got any letters from you.
So eventually, I started to lose faith... I thought you had been killed in that terrible, terrible war. Or maybe that you had forgotten about me. It's been so long, you probably found another girl over there... I never stopped loving you, but I didn't think you cared about me anymore, so welcoming you back just would have been too painful for me... I'm sorry. I'm glad you've come back home *sniff*
