IT'S SO HOT TODAY! It's been hot for about a week now.

Also, there's nothing cold to drink becasue my bottle of lemonade is FROZEN. If I find out who put it in the freezer...

But on another note... GO MASTER O'REILLY! It's Melbourne Cup day today- "The race that stops the nation".

Basically it's the biggest horse race of the year and pretty much everyone in the country picks a horse (whether you bet actual money or not, everyone takes part in a sweep of some sort) and everyone stops work, school everything to watch it. It's lots of fun^^

So yeah, being 18 I can now gamble, so I put $2 on my chosen horse. If I win something then yay. If I don't then it's only $2. It not like I'm gonna become a gambling addict haha. So yes, wish me luck^^ I'm now just waiting for 1pm to find out the results.

And elections aren't over yet. Voting is tomorrow. They'll announce a "winner" tomorrow night and then they'll spend the next week or so (or possibly months if this ends up like the 2000 election) counting and recounting the votes to make sure they were right the first time.

Speaking of which, I've decided to do a little election poll. Like it says in bold 200 font, only U.S. citizens. You can post just don't vote in the poll. It ends on the 5th, so vote vote vote(if you live in the U.S.)! Also, the subdivision I live in is predominantly pro-McCain.

Also, if you haven't heard already, SNL is doing an election compilation tonight. I'm recording it incase I miss anything.

Massachusetts is MAJORLY democratic. Like in the election where Nixion (the Republican party) won. EVERY state voted for Nixion, except for one. Guess who that was? Massachusetts. :D Nixion ended up resigning, then, according to my dad, there a bunch of bumper stickers in MA saying something like "Don't look at us. We voted against him."

Most Republicans don't even try to win MA. We're just sooo democratic (though, my dad is Republican. By the same token, he hates McCain (well, Palin rather) soo....

I find it refreshing when people vote outside their own party even if I don't agree. It means they had to have thought at least a little when they decided. Hi! Poik's right. Whether you agree with his decisions or not, Bush is a very intelligent person. Unfortunately, the major news media (whish is mostly owned by Democrats or out of country Democratic sympathisers) has been determined to convince everyone that he's an uneducated moron, and few things convince more people of the "truth" than a media blitz.

All in all, I think he made for a decent president. Setting aside the Iraq war for a minute, what horrible stupid things has he done while in office? There haven't been any major terror attacks in the US following 9/11, so the security measures, though annoying, are helping. The current economy problems aren't his fault, it was the banks who screwed things up by making so many risky loans so you can't blame him for that (well, you can I suppose, but that doesn't make it true). And even with the war, what was so horrible about it? At the time, pretty much everyone country thought Iraq had WMDs. For all we know, maybe they did and managed to smuggle them out. Regardless, we won a war in record time with very few casualties, got rid of a dictator who murdered tens of thousands of his own people, and replaced him with a democracy that's starting (albiet slowly thanks to the terrorists) to stablize. Is that such a terrible thing to do? We didn't even take their bloody oil (though I'm sure a lot of people are wishing we had with all the gas price increases).

All I'm saying is, you've got to look at the actual facts and form you judgement based on them, not just blindly accept what the media wants you to believe. If you still think he's an idiot after that, well, I disagree but at least you did the research and I can respect your opinion.

Me, I really can't say I can form a good opinion. I don't like him for the Iraq buisness, but I really don't know much about him, so I won't even pretend to. I'm not fond of him, but once again that's probably the state infuencing me, because everyone you talk to dislikes him here pretty much.
I'd be easy to say I hate him because most people in MA hate him, but I try not to. I really don't know enough, and don't try to base my opinion on so little information. Can't say I like him, all the same.

I’d like to start by saying I’m sorry if I offended you. Secondly, I do not for a moment base my opinion of him on his speech or manner of speaking. Thirdly, I have no doubt he has to be intelligent to graduate Yale. I base my opinion of his relationship with the UK and Europe in general. There has been a lot of negative blood in the regions were I live, and the opinion of Bush has come based on the media in my country and the effects his policies has had on the UK. I do not think people were foolish to vote for him and I do not doubt he has done a lot of good things in office, but I do not feel he did America any favours within the world diplomatic community. This is were my opinion has come from. Please do not think I mock him because of things like an accent of speech problems. I would never do that.

Still has a few things he's ignorant of. And academics only get you so far. But hey, no one can know everything.
As for blaming the president for the state of the nation, there's a reason why the congress holds the purse, not the president. As for legislature, it all goes through both the house and the senate. So, who's fault is it really?
