Here are some mostly depressing short stories ^_^

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>The Ice woman of Lonely Plateau</span>

WARNING: THIS ONE MIGHT MAKE YOU FEEL SAD. It's just a short story but it does contain a theme of death, so if you don't like that sort of thing, don't read.

There was a biting wind blowing threw the narrow forest clearing that found itself nestled in a crack between the vast mountains of the lonely plateau. It was mid winter and the whole valley had been striped of its greenery and a thick layer of white snow had descended and claimed the land as its own.
A lone figure wondered forwards against the raging winds towards the edge of the clearing, the literal edge that was a fall of 100 feet and looked out across the immense forest below.

The figure was dressed head to toe in white animal fur. Its face covered in makeshift fabric rapping and a pair of ancient looking, leather strapped goggles.

The figure was wheezing and its breath did not linger in the prevailing winds long enough to turn into mist. It looked out over the forest and its stature noticeably slumped in depression.

The figure cursed its fowl luck and turned and walked away from the cliff edge, back towards the naked tress for some shelter from the wind and snow.

Much time passed and the mysterious figure sat on the sheltered side of the largest tree in the valley, huddled tightly trying to preserve some body heat.
The wind finally began to die down after an hour or so, and the figure made an effect to move, but its limbs had frozen up on it, and the moment it stood it, collapsed into the snow.

The fabric that was rapped around its face haphazardly came away, and a long main of chocolate brown hair fell into view.

The figure tried to move again but only managed to roll over.
The woman was stunning to look at.
Her skin was smooth and as white as a Lilly, and her eyes as blue as the deepest ocean, but her beautiful frame held the expression of sadness.

She shifted something she clung to within the animal fur closer to her chest.
A baby's cry whispered weakly from within her cloths.

The woman held the child as tightly as she dared, shielding it with her body and providing it with her own body warmth. She gasped for air, crying with what little energy she had left. She curled into a ball around the infant to keep it warm, and be began to shiver.

After a while, the woman stopped crying, stopped gasping for air in the thin climate, stopped shivering....

Her body slowly began to be covered by a blanket of snow, until she and the infant where invisible, buried under the icy shroud.

Morning broke some time later, and all evidence of the woman's existence had been whipped out.
To this day, hikers on the mountain say they can hear a shrill baby's cry on the wind, and a lone figure looking out over the plateau...

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Not quite Romeo and Juliet</span>

The loud noises of heated arguing filled the hastily directed Family room.
The mood of the birthday party had long since turned into a swear one as members from either side of Julie's family began to argue.
Her husband's father was a pompous man that though Julie wasn't good enough for his son, and her father left the same way about her husband Ross.

Ross tried to calm down his drunken mother while Julie, the birthday girl, was stuck playing peace maker between the two matriarchs of the family's that had now decided to argue over who was going to pay for the surprise party.

Julie couldn't understand how people who hated each other so much could have even arrange this shambles of a get together.

Julie sighed and finally gave up playing referee, and disappeared threw the crowd of arguing relatives into the kitchen.

She sat on a breakfast stool near the kitchen counter and lent forward, holding the weight of the world on her shoulders as she slumped forward.
A sigh escaped her lips and she began to nibble on a sausage roll that had been abandoned on a buffet plate earlier in the day.

Soon Ross entered the kitchen as well, also seeming trying to escape the carnage that had become her party.

She looked up at him, and viewed his fatigued stance and expression. The sweat was pumping from his brow and he glanced back into the next room, as if checking if he was followed.

He finally spotted his wife siting at the counter
"Hey" he wanly greeted
"Hey yourself" she replayed in happier, yet still warn out tone, a smile forming on her face.

There was a pause as the two just looked at each other, when finally Ross spoke.
"Want to go for a Macdonald's?"
Julie quickly stood up, her face glowing.
"I thought you'd never ask"

They left the party and spent the rest of the day eating there junk food in the car outside the house.

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>The secrets are salvation.</span>

Marko sighed as another girl locked onto his arm. This girl had long brown hair, soft hazel eyes and a book bag slung across her back.
Somehow she managed to not only favour the ridiculously handsome young man with a smile, but shoot corrosive daggers at the woman on his other arm.
The recipient, a blonde haired waitress sniffed with contempt, opting to apply yet more of her body to the relentless glomping of her prize.
Marko?s brain stuttered momentarily as soft body parts were applied to his person in equal measure, but was quickly rebooted by roiling annoyance.
Somehow he managed to filter the sensations that would turn an ordinary man into nothing more than a quivering hormone and concentrated instead on an entirely different concept.
He had to tell his parents tonight. He couldn't take much more of the attention of females.
Marko cringed slightly, but the tactical portion of his mind was already focusing on other matters?
Part of him was actually offended that he had to tell anyone. Why couldn't these girls just leave him alone? He wasn't an object to be owned.
The least god could have done was something different this time around.
If you?re going to sabotage somebody?s life, at least be creative about it.
Instead, it was the same old catalyst: too good looking, to many girls, being attracted to boys?
It would all make for an interesting situation for Marko when he finally came out into the open.
The 'Girl magnet' of South Peek, was about to admit he was gay.
