Re: Diamond/Pearl
Although SS and HG don't allow you to get the newer Pokemon at the start they've updated the national dex to include all 4 gens of Pokemon. Hence being able to get the Arceus event and the Dialga, Palkia or Giratina at lv 1. There are some Pokemon who have been added into the Jhoto Dex, mainly evolved forms, such as Yanmega and Ambipom. From my understanding once you have the National Dex in the game, Pokemon from the 3rd and 4th Gens will appear in select areas, I think in some places you need some sort of code as well.
Redback, Funnel-Web, Blue-ringed octopus
Taipan, Tigersnake and a Box jellyfish
Stonefish and the poison thing that lives in a shell
That spikes you when you pick it up

Re: Diamond/Pearl
I liked diamond alot more, Dialga is just cooler to me but I also like Dragon-Steel (Dialga) over Dragon-Water (Palkia) (type spoilers :/) but other than the pokemon you can catch, their virtually the same, but I'd seriously go with Platinum over either of those.

Re: Diamond/Pearl
Most of the ones from D/P (Platinum is to D/P what Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald were to their sets). So most of the 4th gen and a fairly good selection of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen pokémon as well. Plus, if you've got a regular DS or DS Lite (not a DSi) you can important pokémon from the GBA games.
And, for those of you in North America, Gamestop is giving away Pichu colored Pikachus (or what it Pikachu colored Pichus?) from now until thr 14th. Supposedly they'll unlock something when traded from D/P/P to HG/SS.

I'll accept, Doodle. I'm available this weekend.
